ADNews-Monrovia: Solomon Claudius George, the former lawmaker for Montserrado District #7, has confirmed that he is actively seeking employment under President Joseph Boakai’s administration. This comes after he decides to resign from the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), the political party that initially projected him into the spotlight.

Betrayal of Trust     An anonymous source close to Solomon George hints Afric Daily Newspaper that the former Lawmaker has been facing hardship since he lost his post.

“Solo gets a big mouth with nothing to show, he lived on credit throughout when he was representative, and all his salary was dig hole cover hole. He can’t even afford to pay his house rent now, he has to be passing all around begging the Unity Party government officials to survive,” the source stated. “  all that he is saying is for survival, because things are hard on him, no business  to show and no investment with all the time he spent in power”.

In a recent appearance on Spoon Talk, George revealed that he had been in talks with President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, who personally called him to join his team and help him succeed. He also mentioned receiving encouragement from Vice President Jeremiah Koung, who has been in contact with him over time.

Solomon George, who gained political prominence through his affiliation with the CDC, won his district’s seat twice in the 2011 and 2017 Presidential and Representative elections under the party’s banner.

Despite the CDC’s support in advancing his political career, George now views the party as a “great nightmare.” He accused the party’s leader, Former President George Weah, of betrayal, claiming that in less than 14 months following his loss in the 2023 Presidential and Representative elections, he had experienced a breakdown of trust.

In his resignation, George criticized the CDC leadership, labeling the party as “wicked,” “hypocritical,” “sycophantic,” and “ungodly.”

“Ambassador George M. Weah has, on numerous occasions, lied to me, stabbed me in the back, and pretended we were aligned in working for the young people of the party and the country. Above all, he has been disrespectful towards me because of my dissenting views on how certain issues should be handled,” George stated.

He further remarked, “Any intelligent person can see that the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) had a more formidable group of thinkers and forces when we were in the opposition than when we gained power and led the country.”

In response to George’s resignation and critical statements, Moses Acarous Gray, the former lawmaker for Montserrado District #8, called him an “ingrate.”

George is not the only high-profile CDC member to resign following the party’s loss in the 2023 elections. On June 17, 2024, Mulbah K. Morlu Jr., the CDC’s former chairperson who led the party into the elections, also resigned. Morlu later went on to establish a Civil Society Organization, the Solidarity and Trust for a New Day (STAND), which many believe could be a precursor to the formation of a new political party.
