ADNews-Monrovia: Solomon Claudius George a robust Congress for Democratic Change political party (CDC) Member, and former Montserrado district #7 Representative, has tendered his resignation from the party in less than 14 months in opposition, accuses the party of being wicked, hypocritical, sycophant, and ungodly.
On February 12, 2025, former Representative George resigned from the party citing issues ranging from the internal dispute, lack of cordiality, and political attack against him as reasons behind his resignation.
“Amb. George M. Weah had at most times lied to me, stabbed me in the back, and pretended as if we were on the same page in doing the RIGHT THING for the Young People of the party and the country, but above all, he had been very disrespectful to me because of my dissent or non-concurrence to issues I thought must be handled in a different way.
“Any intelligent person can tell that the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) had a formidable formation of brains and force while we were in the opposition than when we were in Power or leading the country,” said Solomon George.
George won the district twice in the 2011 and 2027 elections and lost alongside the party political leader, George Weah in the late 2023 presidential and Representative elections.
In his official resignation letter addressed to CDC acting National Chairperson, Janga A. Kowo with a Carbon Copy (CC) to the Liberian National Police and former Minister of State for Presidential Affairs in the CDC regime, Mr. George W. Blamo, he said after taking a deep dive in the ocean of philosophical thinking, he is pleased to do this document as a means of letting out what has been choking him for the last five years as CDCian
According to him, internal wrangling has been the order of the day within the party as some very wicked, evil, ungodly people have joined the Party with the intent to misuse the popularity of the political leader, Weah for their own personal aggrandizement.
George also accused former President Weah of mobilizing his supporters to target him saying “coming after me as if I am a fugitive is the biggest mistake Oppong will ever make in his lifetime because the law of the land will defend”.
When contacted via phone to confirm his resignation, he affirmed and told Afric Daily News that he is preparing to have a major press conference sooner to inform the public about his decision and the details surrounding his resignation.
Solomon is not the only strong CDCian to resign from the party after losing the 2023 elections, but the very Party’s Chairperson who took the party to elections, Mulbah K. Morlu, Jr. resigned on June 17, 2024, and later formed a Civil Society Organization, the Solidarity and Trust for a New Day (STAND) which many characterized as an establishment that will give birth to a political party sooner or later.
