ADNews-Monrovia: Amidst ongoing corruption allegations and a criminal record, Musa Hassan Bility, a Liberian businessman turned politician, has emerged as the political leader of the newly formed political party, the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC).
Bility, who won a seat in Liberia’s 2023 general elections and currently serves as the representative for Nimba County District #7, is now preparing to contest the 2029 presidential election.
Bility’s rise to political prominence comes despite multiple corruption allegations, including charges of defrauding government taxes and misusing funds from the International Football Federation (FIFA) during his tenure as president of the Liberia Football Association (LFA). The accusations against Bility include the misappropriation of FIFA funds, including annual grants and a grant intended for an Ebola prevention campaign, as well as conflicts of interest and offering and accepting gifts.
In May 2023, after attempting to appeal the decision, Bility’s ban from football-related activities was upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
On March 1, 2025, under Bility’s leadership, the Citizens Movement for Change officially named him as its political leader in his home county, Nimba, further solidifying his intentions to seek higher political office.
The announcement has drawn attention from both supporters and critics, with many questioning how Bility’s past will influence his political future.
