ADNews-Monrovia: Former  President George Weah urges Muslims to use their Holy Month period to build a stronger bond with the Islamic congregation in Liberia, as well as with people of other faiths.

In his recent Ramadan message to the Muslim Community in observance of their Holy days through fasting,  the former  Liberian leader hopes that the Muslim Community will include the quest for peace and prosperity in Liberia in addition to personal wishes and aspirations as they supplicate.

Below is former President  Weah’s  Ramadan message.

I extend warm greetings to all Muslims in Liberia and the world over as you begin the holy month of Ramadan, when you fast and pray in observance of a fundamental pillar in Islam.

It is my wish that Allah guides you and your family and grants you good health throughout this period and beyond. Fasting in supplication to Allah also teaches self-discipline, which enables us to abstain from the vices of life.

I urge you to use the period to build a stronger bond within the Islamic congregation in Liberia, as well as with people of other faiths. It is also my hope that in addition to your personal wishes and aspirations, you include the quest for peace and prosperity in Liberia as you supplicate.

Ramadan, as you are aware, is when your holy scripture was revealed and, therefore, a time for reverence and the giving of charity. Use it to build a stronger spiritual relationship with Allah while also remembering the less fortunate in our society.

Islam has been an integral part of Liberia since its founding. Our history is replete with the contributions of Islamic leaders, many of whom made invaluable efforts to bring peace to Liberia and impacted the social and economic well-being of the people.

Let’s remember the toil of all of our forebears and use this Ramadan to pray for national reconciliation and healing.
