ADNews-Washington, D.C.:  President Donald Trump stated on Friday that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is not prepared for peace in the ongoing conflict with Russia, particularly with the involvement of the United States.

Trump’s comments came shortly after his meeting with Zelensky in the Oval Office. The U.S. President, who has long advocated for an end to the war, shared his thoughts on the meeting through a post on his Truth Social account.

In a heated squabble between President Trump and the Ukrainian leader, Zelensky , Trump explained that Zelensky’s belief in the strategic advantage provided by U.S. support has affected his approach to negotiations.

“We had a very meaningful meeting in the White House today. Much was learned that could never be understood without conversation under such fire and pressure,” Trump wrote.

He continued, “It’s amazing what comes out through emotion, and I have determined that President Zelensky is not ready for peace if America is involved because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations.”

Trump emphasized his preference for peace, stating, “I don’t want advantage, I want PEACE.”

The former President also expressed his discontent with Zelensky’s attitude during the meeting, saying, “He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for peace.”

The remarks come at a time when tensions continue to escalate in the Russia- Ukraine war, with the U.S. providing significant military and financial support to Ukraine. Trump’s comments signal ongoing differences between the two leaders regarding the path to peace in the conflict.
