ADNews-Monrovia,Liberia: Several allegations have been leveled against the Deputy Labour Minister for Administration, Othello P. Mansuo, including shielding some clandestine foreign nationals, covering illegal foreigners and interfering in the Labour Inspectors’ operations for self-gain to the detriment of government revenue generation, but he has denied all.
Information reaching Afric Daily News suggests that Mansuo was linked to alleged scammers, operation who were recently arrested by the state security forces along the RIA highway with sophisticated digital devices, fake documents, and counterfeit United States Dollars.
Anonymous Sources informed this paper that he provided a cover-up for those alleged scammers and interfered with Labor Inspectors’ enforcement process and state security operations to protect them, while at the same time using his Special Aide, only identified as Tarian Grayan, to process unauthorized permits for the alleged scammers and other foreign nationals.
Accordingly, Tarian is currently undergoing an internal investigation at the Ministry to determine his involvement in illegal activities that undermine the ministry’s integrity and President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s “Rescue Mission Agenda”.
“Minister Mansuo provides cover for many foreigners living in Liberia illegally,” Our source explained.
Our sources who claimed to have met with the alleged scammers said a Chinese national, only identified as Daniel on the scene confirmed that Mansuo was fully aware of their being there, and further displayed Othello P. Mansuo’s pictures and contacts in his mobile phone when the joint investigative team arrived at a facility in Rehab.
The Chinese nationals reportedly displayed Minister Mansuo’s pictures on their phone to intimidate the joint team while performing their official duties. Sources interpreted the incident as an attempt to invoke the Deputy Minister’s influence and discourage the officers from carrying out their assigned duties.
Sources further claim that the Chinese nationals could not produce work permits, labour statistics, or other employment-related documents when the joint team conducted its operation.
At a stated work-permit fee of US$3,000 per foreign national, permits for 60 individuals would amount to US$180,000, depriving the state of this huge amount of tax just to favor an individual’s desire.
Even more troubling are allegations that Grayan was dispatched to the Rehab facility after the inspection team arrived. According to information, he told members of the team that he had been sent by the Deputy Minister to intervene and negotiate a financial settlement in exchange for keeping the matter from reaching the public
In a separate allegation, sources have linked the Deputy Minister of interfering with inspections involving Thunderbirds Garage, along the Robertsfield Highway.
Accordingly, inspectors have been discouraged from visiting the establishment and other businesses for inspection.
Minister Othello Mansuo Responds to Allegation
Late Tuesday evening, October 13, 2026, Afric Daily Newspaper visited mansuo’s Labour Ministry office to confirm this allegation.
In his response, he denied all the allegations raised, claiming that he has never been involved in any wrong act.
“ They said my photo and number were displayed by the Chinese Nationals, but the photo they are talking about is the photo on my WhatsApp account; everybody could display such a photo as far as you have my number and I am a public figure; a lot of people have my number which I don’t know of,” the minister explained.
He further threw a challenge to display any other photo of him showing close proximity with the alleged scammers under question or any alien or foreigner living illegally in Liberia.
As for Tarian Grayan and Thunderbirds Garage claims, he denied having Tarian as his special aide but confirmed having a relationship with Thunderbirds Garage.
Minister Mansuo told Afric Daily that Tarian is an Inspector assigned under the Inspectorate Division, not his special aide, and has no special relationship with him.
“Thunderbirds Garage won a procurement contract with us to carry out service on the ministry’s official vehicles. As a Deputy Minister for Administration, I know them as aware of them but have never used my office to cover them up.” Deputy Labour Minister Othello P. Mansuo concluded.
However, Afric Daily Newspaper continues to deep deeper to unearth clandestine activities within the Labour Ministry and other agencies .
