Apostle Lazarus C. Sumo of the Light of World International Ministry reported, “Four alleys leading to this facility have been closed, rendering them non-functional. The only action taken has been the construction of pipes that release wastewater and feces from septic tanks into the surrounding community.”
An investigative tour by the media revealed that two major drainages from the THR Cold Storage facility discharge directly into the community. This has led to severe and abnormal flooding each time it rains. Additionally, pipes installed on the facility’s rooftop to collect rainwater have exacerbated the situation by discharging it into the community, worsening the flooding.
Another pressing issue is the deteriorating fence surrounding the facility. Large sections of the fence are cracked and at risk of collapsing, posing a significant danger to nearby residents and users of the only road that runs alongside the fence.

According to local residents, the fence has been in disrepair for some time, despite repeated requests for repairs from the facility’s owners.
Mr. Jeremiah Walker, Chairman of Kangar Island, highlighted the severe health risks posed by the facility’s operations. “The flooding caused by THR, combined with the discharge from their septic tanks, has led to numerous health problems. Children and elderly residents struggle to navigate the contaminated water, which has resulted in illness and, tragically, the death of a pregnant woman who was unable to access timely medical care due to the floods.”
When contacted for comment, THR Cold Storage’s Tompoe Village branch referred the inquiry to their Sayon Town headquarters. There, a lady claim to be an administrative manager, identified only as Odell Juli, directed the investigation to Sheku Gassama, who she claimed was the company’s Public Relations (PR) officer and also managed Joy FM on New Port Street in Monrovia, owned by Montsrrado District #7 Lawmaker, Rep. Emmanuel Dahn.

Gassama, when approached, declined to further comment on the situation, and claimed that he has no idea about what is happening at Kangar Island despite, acknowledging his role as the company’s PR representative.
The ongoing issues at THR Cold Storage accentuate a critical need for immediate intervention to address the safety and health hazards faced by the Kangar Island community.
Flashback on the 100 Million Busted Cocaine

In October 2022, SONIT LIBERIA INC, which was occupied by THR frozen food company owned by George Abujaodi and Bilal Ibrahim, was found to be in connection with the 100 million busted cocaine which was confiscated by the government of Liberia.
The consignment of the cocaine drug was in transit from South America (Brazil) to an unknown destination following a tipoff from the American Government that the huge consignment was transiting through Liberia, which led to the receiver being arrested and the consignment seized at a leased cold-storage facility of SONIT Liberia Inc., in Topoe Village Community, along the Japan Freeway.
In the process of seizing the huge cocaine consignment, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency LDEA and the National Security Agency (NSA), also apprehended Guinea-Bissauan national identified as Malam Conte, Lebanese national identified as Issa Mekki, the Portuguese Gustavo Henrique, and Brazilian Adulai Djibril.
The investigation also linked the AJA-Group Holding, and the Fresh Frozen Food Inc., the TRH Trading Incorporated, under AJA-Group Holding group as alleged key drug trafficking syndicates, under the spotlight.
Investigation continues as we keep deepening deeper into the circumstances.
