ADNews-Monrovia: The 15-member National  Council of Chiefs across the country has elected  Chief Arthur W. Dowah of Boinsen Chiefdom, KoKoya District, Bong County as their head replacing Chief Zarzar Karwor, who had served the council for over a decade.

Paramount Chief Arthur W.  Dowah was elected by the 15-member Council as National Chairperson in Gompa, Nimba County on Friday, August 9, 2024, in the presence of other chiefs of the 15 counties along with County Superintendents, other local government officials, the media and civic society organizations among others followed by his induction on Saturday, August  10,  2024, at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex in Monrovia.

The election of the Council Of Chiefs leadership is in accordance with Chapter Three of the Local Government Act of 2018, which was signed into law by former President George Manneh Weah in September 2018, revoking   the Act that established the National Traditional Council, which was headed by Chief Zarzar Karwor, and instead established the National Council of Chiefs.
