President Boakai Inspects Humanitarian Donation and Road Equipment at the Freeport of Monrovia

ADNews, Monrovia, Liberia: The President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., on Monday conducted an official inspection of donated assorted items and educational materials at the Presidential Warehouse and subsequently toured newly arrived government earth-moving equipment at the Freeport of Monrovia.

The President was received at the Freeport by the Acting Managing Director of the National Port Authority (NPA), Hon. James R. Bernard, Deputy Managing Director for Administration, along with the Deputy Managing Director for Operations, Hon. Emmanuel Houton. Also in attendance were the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Hon. Sam Stevequah; the Minister of Education, Hon. Jarso Maley Jallah; the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Gbeme Horace-Kollie; members of the Presidential Initiative Team; and senior officials of the National Port Authority.

During the visit, President Boakai inspected a donation presented by Bishop Trevor Cockings, a United States-based philanthropist. The consignment consists of school uniforms and related educational supplies intended to support underprivileged children across all fifteen counties of Liberia. Speaking during the turnover ceremony, Bishop Cockings indicated that the donation comes as a commitment made to the Liberia government in assisting vulnerable children and families, emphasizing the importance of generosity and service.

In appreciation of the donation, the President, his Excellency Joseph Boakai expressed sincere gratitude for the gesture and reaffirmed the Government of Liberia’s commitment to ensuring that the donated materials reach their intended beneficiaries. The President disclosed that the items will be distributed through the Presidential Service Initiative (PSI) as part of the government’s ongoing Back-to-School Campaign, aimed at increasing access to education for disadvantaged children nationwide.

Following the inspection of the items donated, the President toured the first consignment of earth moving equipment, commonly referred to as “Yellow Machines,” currently being brough in the country through the Freeport of Monrovia. The equipment forms part of the administration’s broader infrastructure development agenda designed to accelerate road construction and rehabilitation across the country.

The National Port Authority, host of the consignments, facilitated the logistical handling of both the donated materials and the heavy-duty machinery upon arrival at the port.

President Boakai’s visit underscores the administration’s commitment to strengthening social welfare programs while advancing critical infrastructure development to support national growth, development and connectivity.
