ADNews-Monrovia, Liberia: A team of Liberian journalists has pledged its full commitment to working alongside ActionAid Liberia (AAL) in advancing climate justice initiatives across the country.
Climaxing the global week of climate action on Monday, September 22, 2025, AAL senior manager team held talks with Journalists from various media institutions, including Afric Daily Newspaper, Liberia Broadcasting Service, Frontpage Africa, Women Voices and the Inprofile Daily at their Congo Town Office in Monrovia on the media’s role in seeking justice for climate in the society.
ActionAid’s media dialogue focused on a few key objectives, including obstacles to climate action, climate injustice, and the Just Transition.
Meanwhile, four key principles of the Just Transition(JT) were highlighted during the dialogue, including the inclusive & participatory process, Address- not exacerbate- Justice, Transform the system to work for people, nature & the climate and a comprehensive policy & planning framework to support transition.
AAL Country Director, Madam Elizabeth Gbah Johnson, described the meeting as a fruitful exchange and applauded the journalists for their active participation.
She noted that the media plays a crucial role in localizing global climate issues, educating the public, and advocating for effective national responses to the climate crisis and the Just Transition agenda.
“This is the beginning of something new,” Madam Johnson emphasized. “Organizing a dedicated media network on climate is very important to our campaign. Together, we can ensure that climate justice remains at the center of national development.”
