ADNews-Bong: The Representative of District #7 in Bong County Foday E. Fahnbulleh, recently held a constructive meeting with Liberia’s Ambassador to China, Dudley McKinley Thomas, addressing critical concerns regarding China-Union’s adherence to the Mineral Development Agreement (MDA).
During the discussions, Representative Fahnbulleh emphasized the growing dissatisfaction among constituents in Bong District Seven over China-Union’s perceived nonperformance.
The company, which is responsible for significant mining operations in the region, has faced scrutiny for allegedly failing to meet the terms of the MDA, which includes commitments to local development, environmental protection, and fair labor practices.
Ambassador Fahnbulleh, representing Liberia in China, provided insights into ongoing diplomatic efforts to hold China-Union accountable.
He outlined steps being taken to ensure that the company fulfills its obligations under the agreement. These include increased diplomatic pressure, potential renegotiation of terms, and closer monitoring of the company’s activities.
