ADNews-Monrovia, Liberia: The National Youth League of the opposition political party, Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE) has accused K. Edward Norman Jr. of allegedly impersonating a party official and falsely representing himself as a member of the political organization.
In a press release issued on Friday October 15, 2026, the Youth League expressed grave concern over what it described as the continued impersonation and fraudulent representation of Norman, warning that his alleged actions could mislead the public and damage the party’s reputation.
The Youth League categorically stated that Norman is not a member of MOVEE and has no authority to speak or act on behalf of the party.
According to the statement, records at the party’s National Secretariat show that Norman was expelled by MOVEE’s National Executive Committee in 2023, a decision that was subsequently upheld by delegates at the party’s Third Emergency National Convention on November 28, 2024.
The convention was held at the Baptist Theological Seminary in Paynesville, Montserrado County, the statement said.
The Youth League maintained that Norman’s alleged conduct was inconsistent with the party’s constitution, values, and principles of discipline.
It further warned that any document, public statement, or commitment made by Norman in the name of MOVEE without proper authorization should not be recognized as an official position of the party.
The Youth League called on Norman to immediately cease any activities it considers impersonation or misrepresentation of the organization.
The National Youth League has also urged the general public, party supporters, and members of the media to exercise caution when dealing with individuals claiming to represent MOVEE.
The statement specifically advised journalists and media institutions to verify the identities and official positions of anyone claiming membership in or authority to speak for the party.
It recommended that such verification be conducted through the Office of the National Secretary General or the party’s National Secretariat at its headquarters before interviews are granted or statements are published.
The Youth League said the measure was necessary to prevent the public from being misled by individuals allegedly making unauthorized representations on behalf of the party.
The Youth League further cautioned that it could formally report Norman to the Liberia National Police (LNP) if he fails to immediately stop the alleged impersonation.
The statement described the warning as a final notice to Norman and anyone it believes may be collaborating with him.
The Youth League, however, did not indicate in the statement whether a formal complaint had already been filed with the police.
Despite the dispute, the National Youth League reaffirmed its commitment to the vision, agenda, and philosophy of MOVEE, stressing its determination to uphold decisions made by the party’s National Executive Committee and National Convention.
The organization also emphasized its commitment to promoting peace, unity, and democratic growth within the party while mobilizing young people to support its political agenda.
It encouraged what it described as genuine young partisans to remain focused on the party’s objectives and avoid distractions arising from individuals it considers unauthorized representatives.
The press release was signed by Prince Me-Too Woart, Secretary General of the National Youth League, and approved by Winston D. Gray, identified in the statement as Chairman of the National Youth League.
