LACRA Boss Urges Farmers to Prioritize Cocoa Planting

ADNews- Bong:The Director General of the Liberia Agricultural Commodity Regulatory Authority (LACRA), Mr. Chiropractor D. Sankolo,   called on farmers across the country to take advantage of planting cocoa to ensure food security and economic sustainability.

In an interview with local Journalist in Gbarnga , the Director General of LACRA, Mr. Chiropractor D. Sankolo, stressed the importance of planting Coco for Liberian farmers.

According to him,  Cocoa  is a vital crop in ensuring food security and economic sustainability in the country.

Mr. Sankolo highlighted the numerous benefits of growing the crop, such as its suitability to the Liberian climate, its high nutritional value, and its multiple uses in both the food and agro-processing industries.

He also emphasized that Cocoa is a drought-resistant crop, making it a crucial option for farmers in times of climate change and uncertainty.

The Director General encouraged farmers to take Cocoa planting seriously and make it a priority in their agricultural activities. He also urged them to utilize modern farming techniques and technologies to increase productivity and ensure quality yield of the crop.

Meanwhile, Mr. Sankolo announced that LACRA is working closely with the government and other international partners to provide training and resources to farmers to improve their knowledge and skills in Coco production.

He  assured farmers that the authority is committed to supporting them through policies and programs that will promote the growth of the Cocoa     industry in Liberia.

At the same time, the Director General reiterated the importance of Cocoa in the overall development of Liberia’s agriculture sector and urged farmers to take advantage of the opportunities presented by this crop.

The Director General encouraged them to work together with LACRA and other stakeholders to promote and expand the production of Cocoa across the country.
