ADNesw-Monrovia: A large delegation of Liberian journalists participated in a significant clean-up campaign at the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) headquarters over the weekend aimed at restoring cleanliness and hygiene to the union’s office and reflecting the commitment of the new leadership under President Julius Kullie Kanubah.

The clean-up effort drew journalists from across the country eager to contribute to the revitalization of the union after years of ineffective leadership. Over 75 journalists gathered on Saturday, October 12, demonstrating their solidarity and dedication to the PUL, which has long served as a unifying force for their profession.

Many journalists expressed optimism about President Kanubah’s leadership, hoping that the PUL would begin to recover from the setbacks experienced in recent years. This collective action symbolizes their belief in a brighter future for the union.

During the campaign, President Kanubah actively participated, working alongside his colleagues to ensure the headquarters was restored to its former glory. His hands-on approach not only inspired fellow journalists but also accentuated the importance of teamwork in achieving shared goals.

The clean-up initiative was not only about physical restoration; it also represented a renewed commitment to professionalism and accountability within the union. Journalists emphasized the need for a strong, united front as they move forward under new leadership.

After the clean-up, President Kanubah joined the Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL) at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville, outside Monrovia. The gathering was to celebrate SWAL’s 38th anniversary, highlighting the importance of collaboration among various journalistic entities in Liberia.

Participants at both events echoed a shared vision of a more robust and effective PUL, one that could better serve its members and the public. The collective effort showcased the journalists’ commitment to enhancing the integrity and impact of their union.

In a time when the media landscape is constantly evolving, the PUL aims to adapt and thrive, fostering a culture of professionalism and mutual support among its members. The recent clean-up campaign serves as a crucial first step in this transformative journey.

As the journalists look to the future, they remain hopeful that their combined efforts will lead to a more united and influential Press Union of Liberia. The enthusiasm displayed during the clean-up is a testament to their dedication and resilience in the face of challenges.

The weekend’s activities not only marked a new chapter for the PUL but also reaffirmed the importance of community and collaboration within the journalism profession in Liberia.
