ADNews-Monrovia: The ongoing conflict within the United Methodist Church over regionalization and the adoption of a global policy to endorse same-sex marriage has escalated dramatically as  Mr. Jefferson Knight, a close ally of Head Bishop Samuel J. Quire, has issued threats to massacre members of the Church who oppose this policy.

Knight, who serves as a Human Rights Mentor in the Bishop’s office, warned the New Georgia United Methodist Church members that he would deploy over 200 disadvantaged youths, referred to as “zogos,” to eliminate those defying the globalization initiative. He also mentioned plans to deploy armed personnel to take control of the pulpit.

“The new pastor  will take over tomorrow. Don’t  forget, the new pastor is an armed security man,  don’t forget, we  will be there to worship the Lord. I have invited over 200 Zogos that we have been working with  to join me tomorrow at the New Geogia UMC”, Knight warns members.

Bishop Quire’s  Human Rights Mentor statement has prompted  UMC members to stage massive protests early  Sunday morning  October 13, 2024, across several United Methodist Churches in Monrovia including the UMC New Georgia,  72nd branch among others in the midst of Bishop Quire’s reaction to suspending pastors who are preaching against the Homosexual act.

When approached for comment, Knight confirmed off-record the allegations, stating that the 200 plus zogos under his influence are individuals he is working with over time while one of the new pastors slated to replace those opposing the globalization policy is an armed security personnel.

Meanwhile, Church members have expressed frustration with Bishop Samuel J. Quire, accusing him of failing to convene discussions or report back from the General Conference in the United States since his return in May. Instead, they allege he has focused on dismissing church leaders who advocate against same-sex marriage and homosexuality.

Tension keeps escalating day-by-day in the UMC prompting fears about the future of its leadership and the safety of its members.

The situation remains fluid, as church members continue to evaluate their options moving forward, With a significant portion of the congregation feeling unheard and the future of Bishop Samuel’s leadership remains uncertain.
