ADNews- Bong: The Elders of Sargent Kollie Town (SKT) have voiced their disappointment regarding a recent appreciation program organized by Deputy Finance Minister for Administration, Bill McGill Jones. The event, held over the weekend, was intended to express gratitude to President Joseph N. Boakai, Senator Prince K. Moye, and the residents of Sargent Kollie Town for their support during the 2023 presidential and general elections, which led to President Joseph Nyumah Boakai’s election.

The Elders have expressed frustration over being neither informed nor invited to the event, which they view as a sign of disrespect and disregard for their role in the community.

On behalf of the Elders, Mr. Moses Forkpah stated that they only became aware of the program after it had already begun. The Elders, who have been instrumental in advocating for their community’s needs and contributing to its development, believe that their exclusion from the event deprived them of the opportunity to voice their concerns and engage in discussions about the town’s future.

“We expected the deputy minister and his team to reach out to us as a gesture of respect and acknowledgment for our contributions,” Elder Moses Forkpah emphasized.

The Elders have urged Minister McGill and his team to treat their community with the respect and dignity it deserves. They hope this situation will serve as a reminder to other government officials to involve and consult community leaders in matters affecting their localities. Additionally, they have called on the government to prioritize the needs and concerns of the people in its development plans, viewing this as crucial for the progress of President Boakai’s administration.
