ADNews- Cape Mount: In a routine search, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) seized 516.5 grams of cocaine valued at $27,891 (approximately LD 5,299,290) at the Bo Waterside Port of Entry in Grand Cape Mount County.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 PM on March 27, 2025, when Francis K. Davis, a 45-year-old Ghanaian national and vehicle conductor from West Point, Monrovia, arrived from Sierra Leone in a vehicle with plate number A113952. During a standard search at the Bo Waterside warehouse, Davis’s luggage was carefully examined.
After the search was completed, Davis left the premises, but LDEA officers discovered a car tail light that he had accidentally left behind in the warehouse. Suspicious of the abandoned item, officers inspected the tail light and found five wrapped packets containing a white powdery substance, which later tested positive for cocaine.
When contacted about the forgotten taillight, Davis admitted he was aware that drugs had been found but denied knowing the contents. He explained that a woman in Sierra Leone had handed him the tail light, asking him to deliver it to her husband, a truck driver. Davis then cooperated with the LDEA and agreed to help apprehend the owner of the drugs.
Following Davis’s cooperation, the LDEA deployed a four-man team, led by the Chief of the Special Drug Squad (SDS) of the Grand Cape Mount County Detachment, to meet Davis in Duala. Thanks to Davis’s assistance and coordination with local police, the suspect, Michael Chidiebeara, a 40-year-old Nigerian national residing on Benson Street, Monrovia, was arrested at approximately 9:30 PM.
During questioning, Chidiebeara confessed to owning the drugs. He is now set to be charged and prosecuted in court.
