ADNews-Monrovia, Liberia: ActionAid Liberia, in partnership with its implementing organizations, has conducted a climate street dialogue in Monrovia to raise awareness on climate change, climate justice, and strategies to mitigate its effects.

The initiative was part of the Global Week of Climate Action, aligned with Liberia’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), aimed at promoting climate justice and building stronger resilience among communities.

Over the weekend, young climate activists launched their campaign at the Paynesville Climate Park, near the famous ELWA Junction, before extending their engagement across the streets of Monrovia. The activists carried placards with messages such as: “Secure Food, Energy, and Livelihoods for All,” “Strengthen Responsible Regulation of Mining,” “Transparency and Justice in Climate Deals Always,” “End Harmful Climate Deals,” and “No Land Grabs for Carbon Market.”

Ezekiel Nyanfor, Climate Justice and Humanitarian Response Inspirator at ActionAid Liberia, said the event was part of a global movement of young people demanding urgent action on climate change.

“We are here to raise awareness on climate action among every citizen across the country,” Nyanfor emphasized.

“We are here today to raise consciousness on climate change and its effects,” Wherdaigar stated.

One of the young activists, Tracia F. Yogboh, described the street dialogue as timely and necessary.

“It is important for every Liberian to speak out against activities that contribute to climate change and to demand justice,” she said.

The occasion was graced by ActionAid Liberia’s Country Director, Madam Elizabeth Gbah Johnson, who underscored the organization’s commitment to enhancing public knowledge about climate change and promoting a just transition.
