ADNews-Monrovia,Liberia: The Monrovia City Corporation has officially commenced renovation works at the City Theater and other sections of the Monrovia City Hall, facilities that have remained in deteriorating condition for several years.
The City Theater, which suffered severe damage from leakages during the 2023 rainy season, has been closed to the public since early that year.
The administration of Mayor John-Charuk Siafa acknowledged inheriting the facility in a near-ruined state but emphasized that efforts toward its restoration have been ongoing.
As part of the rehabilitation initiative, Abraham Avi Zaidenberg, who serves as Board Chairman of the Liberia Maritime Training Institute and Managing Director of the Liberia International Ship & Corporate Registry, donated several assorted building materials, including aluminum zinc, to support the roofing and renovation of the City Theater.
Mayor John-Charuk Siafa praised Mr. Zaidenberg for the significant contribution and called on other individuals and institutions to emulate the gesture by supporting ongoing efforts to restore key public facilities across the city. He further noted that Mr. Zaidenberg is the first individual to make a donation toward the initiative.
Speaking on behalf of the Council, Hester Williams expressed sincere appreciation to Mr. Zaidenberg for the generous donation and similarly encouraged other well-meaning individuals and institutions to contribute toward the rehabilitation of important public infrastructure in the city.
The contribution reflects Mr. Zaidenberg’s strong support for ongoing efforts aimed at restoring and improving one of Monrovia’s important public and cultural facilities.
