ADNews-Monrovia: Liberia’s Presidential press secretary, Kula Fofana has openly revealed that President Joseph Nyuma Boakai is no longer independently informed about the current situation affecting the country and its citizens including corruption allegations against his cabinet members, misuse of power, and constitutional crises his regime faces in less than 14 months in power.
According to Kula, Boakai doesn’t listen to the radio or read the local Daily like other world leaders instead, he gets updated on the current issues by asking his kitchen cabinet members.
“President Boakai doesn’t listen to the radio, we collect the newspapers and do summary on the trending issues booth in the paper, radio, and social media and update the president ” Kula disclosed on OK 99.5 FM
Fofana’s comments suggest a breakdown in the way information reaches the president. Unlike many world leaders who keep abreast of national and international developments through media, Fofana disclosed that President Boakai does not listen to the radio or read local newspapers. Instead, the president relies on updates from his inner circle, often referred to as his “kitchen cabinet.”
Kula’s revelation highlights a growing issue of transparency and accountability in the Boakai administration while it’s vital for the president to be well-informed and in touch with the realities faced by ordinary Liberians.
The fact that President Boakai is not receiving direct updates through broader, the reality remains that this practice may prevent the president from gaining a full and accurate understanding of the country’s political, social, and economic happenings.
However, it is unclear whether President Boakai’s reliance on his inner circle for updates is an intentional decision or a consequence of the broader communication strategy within his administration to keep him away from the political malpractice of his “Rescue Agenda” a message and promise that brought him to power.
