ADNews-Monrovia: An officer of the Liberia National Police (LNP), Inspector David S. Fayiah, fatally shot a civilian identified as Manoba Mohammed at the Banjor Gas Station in Brewerville on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m.
According to family sources, Fayiah claimed that the deceased insulted his mother which provoked him to have killed Mohamed.
“The Mohammed that I know will never insult his oldest……And what hurts the most is that the police boss is feeding the public with different story,” family source narrated.
The shooting occurred following a confrontation between Inspector Fayiah and Mohammed. According to reports, Fayiah discharged his firearm during the altercation, resulting in Mohammed’s immediate death.
Inspector Fayiah is currently in custody at Police Headquarters. The LNP has launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
LNP Police Chief Gregory Coleman addressed the public, stating, “We understand the concerns within the community regarding such incidents and want to assure everyone that the Liberia National Police is committed to the highest standards of accountability and transparency. We are dedicated to maintaining public trust through thorough and impartial investigations.”
Coleman urged the public to remain calm and avoid speculation while the investigation is ongoing. He also encouraged anyone with relevant information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
