ADNews-Monrovia, Liberia: Sources close to the government have revealed that the Chairperson of Global Logistics Services (GLS), Mr. Peter King, his business, and associates have no link to the recent huge quantity of drugs busted at the Robert International Airport (RIA), contrary to claims maliciously fabricated by some social media users, including a Facebook account known as “Hon. Yekeh Kolubah TV,” believed to be operated by the impeached Montserrado County District #10 lawmaker.

According to our findings, the information circulating,  linking King and his business to the drug case, is intended to wrongfully damage his image and the business he has built over the years.

King, over the years, has been celebrated as one of Liberia’s successful businessmen who rose from humble beginnings and developed professional skills that have impacted thousands of people in the business sector.

The US$19 million drug bust at the Robert International Airport (RIA) has raised public tension, with citizens demanding immediate accountability and details surrounding those linked to the trafficking operation.

The illegal substance was reportedly being prepared for shipment to Europe when officers of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) intercepted the consignment. However, authorities have yet to publicly identify the individuals responsible for the trafficking, as many propagandists continue pointing fingers at the wrong people.

Speaking to Afric Daily Newspaper, the spokesperson of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), Mr. Orlando Demey, confirmed that the drugs seized were leaving Liberia and destined for Europe.

According to Mr. Demey, Customs officers initially became suspicious of the shipment and believed it might contain contraband.

The matter was immediately reported to the LDEA for further investigation, which later confirmed that the consignment contained illegal drugs.

He disclosed that the head of Customs at RIA, along with officers who were on duty when the shipment was discovered, are currently undergoing investigation as part of efforts to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case and identify all individuals connected to the trafficking operation.

“This is a very big case. We are not yielding to public pressure. We are doing our best to fully establish the facts because we do not want to rush and lose the case in the end,” Mr. Demey told Afric Daily.

When asked how soon the public could expect the outcome of the investigation, Mr. Demey assured citizens that details would be made available once investigators conclude their work.
