Ex-President Weah Hosts Thanksgiving Service & Reception for Kemayah’s Successful Recovery
ADNews-Monrovia: Former Liberian President George Weah, alongside his Forky Klonjlaleh Family, organized a special Thanksgiving service to celebrate the successful medical treatment and safe return of Ambassador Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah Sr. from abroad.
The service, held on December 1, 2024, at the Forky Klonjlaleh Family Church along the Roberts International Airport (RIA) Highway, brought together a diverse group of prominent citizens, Kemayah’s family members, and members of the opposition Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) and its alliance parties, including the Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE).
In his remarks, President Weah expressed a deep
personal connection to Kemayah, emphasizing his unwavering support and promising to remain a trusted ally. He prayed for Kemayah’s long life, good health, and prosperity.
“I am thankful to God that Ambassador Kemayah is back with us. I believe in the teachings of the Bible, and when I heard that Kemayah was facing a medical challenge, I immediately turned to the altar to seek divine intervention,” Weah said. “My hope and faith rest in God. Today, I am organizing this special Thanksgiving to thank God for preserving the life of my brother, ally, and best friend, and for bringing him back to us.”
Kemayah, deeply moved by the gesture, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Weah, praising him as a selfless leader and a father figure. “During my time abroad, when I was battling for my life, Weah was with me every step
of the way, praying for me without ceasing,” Kemayah shared. “Upon my return, he declared today a day of Thanksgiving to God for preserving my life.”
Kemayah also reflected on his personal challenges, noting that while he fought for his life, the government, instead was focused on undermining him politically. “While I was fighting for my life, the government that is supposed to protect its citizens was busy fighting me for a position as ECOWAS Ambassador To Sierra Leone that the Boakai Administration and Government of Liberia have absolutely nothing to do with as it is strictly a non-statutory position and within the purview and mandate of the President of the ECOWAS Commission to appoint any ECOWAS Citizen that he deems qualified and has the powers to make such appointment without reference to any particular Government of any Member State of ECOWAS, with the Boakai Administration being of no exception.
“But by the grace of God, I am here today, safe and sound,” he said. “My destiny is in the hands of God The Almighty,”
In a moment of reflection, Kemayah characterized Weah’s 2023 electoral defeat as a divine “vacation,” preparing him for a future run in the 2029 presidential race.
Kemayah also accused the Unity Party-led government of attempting to destabilize his political party, MOVEE, by infiltrating it with financial influence to sway key executives away from the Coalition for Democratic Change. “But by God’s grace, they have failed,” he declared.
The Thanksgiving service was attended by key figures from the opposition Coalition for Democratic Change, members of MOVEE, and Kemayah’s family, alongside churchgoers. The event was followed by a celebration at the Jamaica Resort along the RIA Highway, where guests enjoyed an entertainment segment to mark the occasion.
Kemayah is a Liberian Politician, businessman, Diplomat, and philanthropist who has served the country in different capacities including Liberia’s Ambassador at the United Nations permanent mission, Foreign Ambassador, and Dean of cabinet among others.
Also, he is a political leader and Standard Bearer of the opposition Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE) a constituent member to the major opposition Coalition for Democratic Change political party.
