ADNews-Monrovia,Liberia: The Director-General of the Civil Service Agency (CSA), Dr. Josiah F. Joekai, risks imminent dismissal for violating the same Code of Conduct he once used to dismiss several public officials.
At the beginning of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s administration, Joekai took a drastic action by dismissing nine government employees, most of whom worked at the Monrovia City Corporation and were members of the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC).Code of Conduct.
The dismissals stemmed from social media posts that Dr. Joekai said violated the Code of Conduct for public officials and employees of the Government of Liberia.
At the time, the CSA maintained that public servants must remain politically neutral and refrain from engaging in activities prohibited by the Code of Conduct.
However, Dr. Joekai has now found himself at the center of a similar controversy after he was seen attending political activities at the launched of Deputy Deputy Speaker Thomas Fallah’s political movement to support President Boakai’s re-election, conduct that is expressly prohibited for public officials under the same code.
This development has prompted members of the Liberian Senate to launch an investigation into the matter, seeking President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s attention for his dismissal.
