China, Liberia Mark New Year With Diplomatic Reception in Monrovia

ADNews, Monrovia, Liberia: The Chinese Embassy in Liberia, in collaboration with Liberia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, hosted a New Year’s Eve reception on Dec. 30,2025,  celebrating the growing strategic partnership between the two countries.

The event was attended by more than 60 guests, including Chinese Ambassador to Liberia Yin Chengwu and Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sara Beysolow Nyanti. Also present were Deputy Minister for Administration Gabriel H. Salee, Deputy Minister for International Cooperation and Economic Integration Dr. Ibrahim Al-Bakri Nyei, senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and staff of the Chinese Embassy.

Ambassador Yin

Speaking at the reception, Ambassador Yin praised the achievements of the China–Liberia strategic partnership in 2025, highlighting several key milestones. He referenced China’s commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as the Chinese Communist Party’s education campaign aimed at improving party and government conduct under its central leadership’s “eight-point decision.”

Yin also noted progress related to China’s recommendation of its 15th Five-Year Plan and the advancement of President Xi Jinping’s Global Governance Initiative. He congratulated Liberia on its successful election as a nonpermanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2026–2027 term and expressed hope that cooperation between China and Liberia would continue to deepen and yield greater results.

Foreign Minister Nyanti

In her remarks, Foreign Minister Nyanti reaffirmed Liberia’s firm support for the one-China principle and praised China’s achievements in poverty alleviation and development. She welcomed China’s Global Governance Initiative, describing it as a positive contribution to global cooperation.

Looking ahead to 2026, Nyanti noted that Liberia is preparing to assume its role as a nonpermanent member of the U.N. Security Council. She said Liberia stands ready to work closely with China to uphold multilateralism, strengthen the China–Liberia strategic partnership, and promote global peace and security.

The reception concluded with guests participating in games and social activities, as a warm and friendly atmosphere marked the celebration.
