ADNews-Monrovia, Liberia: Mrs Cecelia  Kpor Koon, an acclaimed legitimate wife of the 55th Legislative Speaker of  Liberia, revelations against her  Husband,  Speaker Richard  Nagbe Koon, have taken different trends, as one of  Koon’s office staff, V. Vehzelee Sumo, linked both to immorality  and criminal act, defrauding the U.S government immigration system, which warrants deportation or legal redress.

Mrs. Cecelia Kpor Koon, the acclaimed legitimate wife of Liberia’s  Speaker  Richard  Nagbe Koon,  recently demanded his immediate resignation from his post for his criminal behavior and his inability to handle his personal family’s affairs.

Speaking on the Spoon  Talk on Tuesday evening,  December  23,  2025, Mrs Koon characterized her Husband, Koon, of been a con-artist,  notorious criminal who had defrauded the U.S immigration system and a blackmailer who once captured a naked photo of one of his children’s mothers and paraded with it to accomplish his evil agenda.

Following the broadcast, V. Vehzelee Sumo,  a staff member and media advisor to Speaker Koon, issued a lengthy rebuttal rejecting the allegations and offering an alternative account of the relationship between the two.

In his statement, Sumo claimed that Cecelia Kpor Koon is not the speaker’s spouse but rather his biological sister, alleging that both are children of the late Samuel Blamo Koon. According to Sumo, the two spent their childhood together in several Monrovia communities, including Dry Rice Market, Barnesville and New Kru Town.Speaker

Sumo further alleged that any marital documentation connecting Cecelia Kpor Koon and Richard Koon was part of an arrangement intended to secure U.S. immigration status for the speaker. He claimed the arrangement was initiated by Cecelia Kpor Koon, who allegedly proposed filing immigration paperwork in exchange for financial compensation and access to property owned by the speaker.

According to Sumo, the speaker traveled to the United States through a World Bank faculty exchange program between the University of Liberia and the University of Michigan, not through spousal sponsorship. He alleged that marriage documents were prepared without the speaker’s involvement and that signatures were forged, claims for which no independent verification has yet been provided.

Sumo also accused Cecelia Kpor Koon of engaging in similar arrangements with other individuals and alleged that she later sought control of property owned by the speaker in Virginia, Montserrado County. He said the property had been temporarily made available to her as proof of residence during her unsuccessful bid for a legislative seat in District 17 in the 2023 elections.

“The allegations made on Spoon Talk are false and damaging,” Sumo wrote, describing the dispute as a private family matter that has been politicized. He said several members of the Koon family are willing to speak publicly to clarify the matter if approached by “credible media institutions.”
