Plan UK Team to Conduct Technical Field Visit to Nyehn Town to Engage Women Beneficiaries under LWEP

ADNews-Monrovia,Liberia: The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MGCSP), working alongside the Service Providers of the Liberia Women Empowerment Project (LWEP), will welcome The Plan UK Team to a community visit in Nyehn Town, Todee District, Montserrado County, on Wednesday, January 21st, 2026.

The visit aims to engage directly with women beneficiaries and community structures supported under LWEP, review implementation progress, strengthen accountability, and listen to the voices of women and community leaders at the grassroots level.

The delegation is expected to include representatives from LWEP Service Providers organizations led by Plan International Liberia, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, the Project Management Unit, Montserrado County authorities, and community leadership.

Upon arrival in Nyehn Town, the team will be formally received by the Town Chief and local authorities, followed by an opening briefing from the Montserrado County Gender Coordinator on the objectives and implementation of LWEP in the district.

Key activities will include engagements with women-led enterprises and Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs), presentations of beneficiary testimonies, and discussions on how the project is strengthening women’s economic empowerment.

The visit will also feature a session on the Grievance Redress Mechanism, highlighting community feedback processes and referral pathways for Gender-Based Violence cases.

 

LWEP is a US$44.6 million initiative funded by the World Bank and implemented by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection through national and international partners. Its mandate is to fulfill the government’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development by promoting inclusive, gender-responsive growth and strengthening the agency and resilience of Liberian women and girls.

The Ministry remains committed to creating an enabling environment for collaboration, and to ensuring that Liberia delivers on its national and global commitments to gender equality and women’s rights.
