Held on September 19, 2025, the launch event attracted hundreds of excited children, hopeful parents, and dedicated staff to the school’s campus in Lower Johnsonville, Montserrado County. The celebration also doubled as the first orientation session for students, a moment many hailed as “a dawn of a new day for education.”
At the center of the movement is William Karwolor Howard, founder and proprietor of the Faith School System, whose emotional remarks grounded the event in lived experience and heartfelt purpose.
“The challenges that I faced, there was a time I went to bed hungry and went to school wearing one trousers and registered fewer credit hours, are the same challenges parents face today,” Howard told the audience.
“On this foundation, I intend to focus on the education of underprivileged school-going kids without discrimination.”
Rooted in grassroots community values, the Faith School System aims to offer tuition-free, quality education from kindergarten to Grade 6, serving children from disadvantaged backgrounds. With 351 students enrolled in its first academic year, the school is already signaling its potential to make a lasting impact.
Howard stressed that the initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) — the global commitment to “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.”
“I want to contribute to the success of the Sustainable Development Goal pillar 4. And we can only do it collectively, to create the space for people to be educated,” he said.
Faith School System is the educational arm of the Field Empowerment Foundation of Liberia, also led by Howard. With the motto “Faith and Service,” the institution promotes discipline, moral values, and academic excellence, while embracing diversity, tolerance, and interfaith understanding.
The launch was met with overwhelming appreciation from the local community. Parents, many of whom have struggled for years to access affordable education, expressed their deep gratitude.
“We are happy for our children to learn and we want to tell the founder of the school, thank you for bringing the school here to help us. Before this school, we used to find it hard to send our children to school,” said Princess Duo, a local parent.
Howard reaffirmed his long-term vision for the school, calling the launch a “buoyancy of hope” and vowing to keep the institution focused on its mission of sustainable impact.
“This is a dream and vision, and the time is now to hatch it and spread it across Liberia,” he said.
As it opens its doors in the Rehab Community of Lower Johnsonville, the Faith School System is more than just a school; it’s a movement toward educational equity, rooted in compassion, community, and faith.
