ADNews-Monrovia: Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, Liberia’s new  Minister of Finance Development and Planning (MoFDP), marked his return to the position with a strong commitment to advancing Liberia’s growth and improving the nation’s future.

In a ceremony held on Monday, September 16, 2024, in the MoFDP Second Floor Conference Room, Minister Ngafuan described his return as a fulfillment of what he believes to be God’s will for Liberia. He emphasized his dedication to fulfilling the aspirations of the Liberian people with a high level of commitment.

“It is our duty in the government to work towards realizing the ambitions of our people,” Ngafuan stated. “Our people’s ambitions extend beyond mere electoral power. We in the government must work tirelessly to meet these aspirations.”

Ngafuan stressed that while competency and qualifications are crucial, integrity is essential for achieving the Ministry’s goals. He warned that a lack of integrity, even with competency and qualifications, could pose a danger to the state.

The Minister urged MoFDP employees to uphold integrity, manage public funds responsibly, and keep their salaries distinct from public money. He emphasized that employees should remain focused on their duties despite challenges.

He  also vowed to address revenue leakages to boost budget growth and increase financial resources for national development. He envisions a future where improved road networks will enable Liberians to visit their homes on weekends and return to Monrovia for work, thanks to an increased budget for infrastructure.

“For our working relationship in the Ministry, I may not know everything, but it is not about knowing me; it is about focusing on your job,” Ngafuan advised MoFDP employees. “If you perform well, your achievements will shine, and I will support and promote your success.”

Ngafuan’s remarks emphasize his commitment to fostering a transparent and effective financial administration in Liberia.
