Commits to Support Weah’s 2029 Presidential Bill

ADNews-Monrovia: The opposition Movement for Economic Empowerment ( MOVEE) has scored a modern political goal, as their 3rd Emergency Convention has yielded to reviewing and reversing their 2016 constitution,  elected and adopted a new corps of leaders to lead the party through the most anticipated 2029 presidential and legislative election and reaffirmed their support to the immediate past President, George Weah presidential bill for 2029.

MOVEE  3rd Emergency  Convention held at the  Baptist Seminary in Paynesville outside Monrovia,  along the Robert International Airport Highway brought together its nationwide delegates, the National Election Commission(NEC), the Coalition for Democratic Change(CDC), and the opposition National Patriotic Party (NPP)  among many others.

During the commencement of their convention on Thursday, November 28, 2024,  Amb. Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Jr. was reelected as the party  Political Leader and Standard Bearer, Prince Mehn-National Chairman,  Abraham S. Nyemah- National Vice Chairman for Administration, Johnson Weah– National Vice Chairman for mobilization, recruitment, and membership, Jeremiah Edison Paye- National Secretary general,  Angeline Gborie- National Women League Chair,  Winston Gray  National Youth League Chairman With many others to serve in various capacities within the party for the next six years.

In his address at the convention, Amb. Kemayah emphasized MOVEE’s strong commitment to supporting Weah’s 2029 candidacy.

He described the former president as the “Grand Political Standard Bearer” of the party’s vision and reaffirmed MOVEE’s role as a key member of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), highlighting the party’s determination to continue advocating for Weah’s bid while also contributing to the broader opposition movement.

As a party, Kemayah assured their readiness to play a significant role in the opposition bloc and disclosed the Party’s commitment to commence their public discourse early next year on critical countless issues happening in society.

“We are all part of the opposition political parties, and together as an opposition,  we can move the country forward by holding the government’s feet to political fire.

“MOVEE will continue to champion the rule of law as every political party is a government in waiting”, MOVEE Political leader/ Standard Bearer emphasized.

The party’s Standard Bearer applauded their  3rd Emergency  National Convention Committee for their tireless effort in making the event successful and ensuring that the party is peaceful.

However,  Kemayah declared every county leadership as of the approval and the adoption of the 2024 by-laws and constitution vacant and said “Anyone holding them now at the county level is serving as an interim leader until we can take the convention at the county level which will determine our next legitimate counties leaders in making sure that peace and stability are sustained within the party.

He admonishes the newly elected leadership to serve the party conscientiously toward its progress and success.

MOVEE Political Leader said, the party requires a collective and comprehensive effort to live on as he called on every member to work toward their goal.

Reconciliation

Kemayah took  the opportunity to accept  apologies rendered to him and the party from some members who carried out disgruntle  behavior including the party’s new Secretary General Jeremiah Edison Paye   that could have brought the party to public mimicry

 In a special remark, acting CDC Chairman Atty. Augustine Janga Kowo expressed his party’s readiness to democratically remove the ruling Unity Party (UP) from power in 2029. He criticized the UP government for failing to fulfill its promises and acknowledged that the CDC’s strength, which includes parties like MOVEE, would play a key role in invigorating the national political discourse.

“CDC comprises several political parties and its strength comes from parties such as MOVEE assembling here today for their convention”,  CDC Acting Chairman asserted

Representing the National Election Commission (NEC), Director of Political Affairs Ignatius B. Wisseh praised MOVEE’s 3rd Emergency Convention as a model of democratic and transparent processes. He commended the party for adhering to the rule of law and NEC policies, stressing that the convention provided a positive way forward for resolving internal political differences.

 

While climaxing their Convention on  Sunday, December 1,  2024,   the delegates signed a general resolution to legitimize what was discussed and agreed upon.

“MOVEMENT FOR ECONVOMIC EMPOWERMENT (MOVEE) FINAL GENERAL RESOLUTION BY DELEGATES AT THE 3D EMERGENCY NATIONAL CONVENTION OF THE MOVEMENT FOR ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT (MOVEE) November 30, 2024 WHEREAS, pursuant to Article VI Section 2(a) of MOVEE’S 2016 bi-laws & Constitution, the National Convention is the highest decision making body; WHEREAS, Article XIV Section I of MOVEE’S 2016 bi-laws & Constitution provides: “Emergency National Convention shall be called by the National Chairman when it is deemed necessary in the wisdom of the National Executive Committee of the Party; WHEREAS, Article XIV Section 5 states: “Every moral and ethical possible effort shall be exerted by the Chair/ presiding officer in all meetings of the Party to reach at decisions through consensus building process”; NOW THEREFORE, following the end of the 3rd Emergency National Convention of MOVEE, We, the delegates took some major decisions that are pertinent to the existence and operations of the party. We hereby communicate this Final General Resolution, stipulating major critical decisions taken by the delegates, including, but not limited to the following: 1. That we, the delegates unanimously endorsed and reaffirmed that the Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE) remains a constituent member of the opposition Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC); 2. That we, the delegates unanimously endorsed, voted and reaffirmed H.E. Ambassador Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr., as the Political Leader and Standard Bearer of the Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE), with the singular most power to direct and oversee the party’s political operations and future. B. That we, the delegates unanimously endorsed amendments in whole or Revision of MOVEE 2016 By-Laws & Constitution, thereby adopting the MOVEE 2024 Revised By-Laws & Constitution, to serve as guidance for the party: 4. That we, the delegates have unanimously adopted a sustainability plan for the party, obligating all executives and partisans of MOVEE, at national, county, district and zonal level to pay monthly membership due and other financial obligations to the party; 5. That we, the delegates have unanimously approved that all partisans be in strict adherence to the party’s and code of conduct and disciplinary policy; as a means of keeping the party stable and peaceful; 6. That we, the delegates have unanimously accepted and approved the decision of the National Executive on disciplinary actions taken against some partisans who were in violation of the party’s Code of Conduct, as provided in the 2016 By-Laws & Constitution:

As MOVEE prepares for the upcoming political season, the newly elected leadership is self-assured to play a pivotal role in shaping the opposition bloc’s strategy leading into the 2029 elections.
