China’s Top Legislator Meets Liberian Senate Pro Tempore

ADNews-Beijing, China: China’s top legislator, Zhao Leji, on Wednesday October 15, 2025, met with Liberia’s Senate President Pro Tempore, Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, who is in Beijing attending the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women.

Zhao, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), noted that China-Liberia relations have been elevated to a strategic partnership under the strategic guidance of the two countries’ presidents.

He emphasized that China is willing to work closely with Liberia to implement the key consensus reached between the two heads of state and to advance the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). Zhao said both nations should continue to support each other on core interests and major concerns, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and enhance multilateral collaboration to contribute to building an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era.China

The Chinese legislator further stated that the NPC is ready to deepen exchanges of legislative and supervisory experience with the Liberian Parliament. He highlighted the importance of sharing best practices in protecting women’s rights and interests through legal frameworks, creating a conducive legal environment for practical cooperation between the two countries.

In response, Senate President Pro Tempore Karnga-Lawrence reaffirmed Liberia’s firm adherence to the one-China policy and expressed support for China’s vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity. She added that Liberia is eager to strengthen exchanges between the two legislative bodies to further promote the development of bilateral relations.
