Speaking to Afric Daily Newspaper over the weekend, several residents expressed deep frustration, alleging that Rep. Womba has been absent from the district for months.
Moses Flomo, a resident of Zota District, said the lawmaker’s prolonged absence suggests he “no longer has interest in the district” and called for his immediate resignation.
“I am disappointed in our lawmaker,” Flomo said. “Since we voted him in the 2023 elections, he no longer cares about us. Whenever he comes to the county, his stopping point is Gbarnga. Our district, the one that gave him the power, has been abandoned, especially the citizens who stood in the sun and rain to vote for a man we believed would work in our interest.”
Womba, who was re-elected in 2023, has come under growing criticism from voters who accuse him of neglecting routine visits and failing to pursue development initiatives that could improve living conditions in the district.
Residents of Zota and surrounding communities are calling on him to return and begin meaningful development work “to change the narrative” for the district.
Another resident, Annie Mulbah, a well-known businesswoman, voiced similar disappointment.
“I am frustrated with our lawmaker for abandoning us,” Mulbah said. “We no longer see him like we used to. During the campaign, he visited often because he needed our votes. Since his election, he has turned into a ‘big man’ and does not care about us anymore.”
Several citizens said they now regret voting for Womba to represent them in the 55th National Legislature, alleging he has failed to carry out his legislative duties in ways that benefit the district.
Womba, a former Unity Party chairman in Bong County, has not responded publicly to the allegations. His absence, however, has sparked growing concern among residents, who describe it as “wicked” and “a bad leadership practice” that they believe is undermining progress in District 4.
