ADNews-Monrovia, Liberia:  Prof. Saye Gbalazeh has strongly condemned Activa International Insurance Liberia for what he termed a sustained campaign of harassment, following the court’s decision to lift a controversial garnishment placed on his bank accounts.

Addressing journalists at the Temple of Justice, Gbalazeh described the company’s actions as a “desperate attempt” to tarnish his reputation after he reportedly prevailed in prior legal disputes involving the firm.

“I have built my career over decades in the private sector, including top executive service in the United States. These allegations are false and malicious,” he asserted.

On Tuesday, Judge Peter W. Gbeneweleh of the Civil Law Court ruled  that the garnishment—valued at US$134,000—had been issued in error, ordering financial institutions to immediately lift the restriction.

Gbalazeh alleged that ACTIVA had earlier failed in attempts to implicate him through investigations involving the Liberia National Police and the County Attorney.

“When those efforts failed, they turned to garnishment to frustrate me, especially as I prepare to travel,” he said. “This is nothing but an abuse of court process.”

He welcomed the court’s intervention, stating it reaffirms his innocence and exposes what he called the company’s misuse of legal mechanisms.
