ADNews-Monrovia, Liberia: The Managing Director of the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC),  Mohammed Ali, commonly known as MO Ali, has engaged in raining insults against one of the respected Clergyman and humanitarian,  the Bishop of the Independent Catholic Church of Liberia, Bishop Nimley J. Donyen, for his continued advocacy to give ordinary citizens a better life they deserve.

Bishop Donyen, known for his decades-long advocacy for the poor, recently wrote to Mr. Ali requesting the reopening of a water valve that previously supplied his school and residence in the Red Hill Community. The Bishop claimed that the LWSC had halted the water supply since January 2018 and that water was now being sold to impoverished residents at a cost of L$10.00 per container,  a price many could not afford.

Instead of taking responsibility, Mo viewed the Bishop’s appeal contrary to what it appears, and involved in insulting the clergyman,  characterizing his appeal as  Reckless and unfounded accusations, made without knowledge of the facts.

“Mr. Donyen, the words you used in your letter, such as “scandalous”, are reckless, and your allegation that LWSC is selling water at LD$10.00 per container is baseless. You must understand clearly that LWSC does not operate at your behest, and you are in no position to instruct this institution to reopen any water line”,  Ali sharply responded to Bishop Donyen’s humble request.

In his September  1, 2025, letter to MO, Bishop  Donyen  said, ” I also informed you in that letter that Water & Sewer was selling a container of water at L$10.00 (ten Liberian dollars) per container to the poor people in Red Hill Community, most of whom are jobless or doing casual labor, or petty trade. I appealed to you to reopen the valve so that water can flow to Cheerful Givers School and to my house, and to sell two containers of water at L$5.00 (five Liberian dollars). Because I have not received a response from you, I am writing to you again to remind you.

I attached documents to my August 11, 2025, letter to you to prove that I paid for all the pipes and the digging of the waterline in Red Hill Community in December 2016. I did not pay for the waterline that is in Red Hill Community in order to make a profit from the selling of water to the poor people. I built this waterline to help the poor community dwellers of Red Hill Community, Johnsonville Township.

Water & Sewer did not pay for the waterline or pay for the water towers. It is therefore scandalous for water & and sewer to sell a container of water for L$10.00 (ten Liberian dollars) in Red Hill Community. Please reopen my valve so that I can give water to the poor people at L$5.00 (five Liberian dollars) per container. If the proceeds from these sales cannot pay the monthly water bills of the community, | will, with the grace of God, pay the balance water bills to Water & Sewer.

In response to the LWSC boss’s unruly behaviour,  Bishop has, however, taken to his social media “Facebook ” handle, saying, ” Pray for those in public office in Liberia. Something is wrong”.
