Former LCC President Critics Religious Political Branding

By Joseph Tumbey

The former  President of the Liberia Council of Churches, Bishop Korto K. Brown calls for political sanity  in Liberia as he condemned political  attacks against Christianity and  disagreed  with the actions of Senator Prince Johnson  and President George Weah by using their churches to respond to political  talks.

“We have to take responsibility to make sure these elections come and pass in peace, politics should be discussed at political  terrains not at worship  places,” Bishop  Brown responded to political attacks  against  to the attack Christianity.

Speaking to Journalists on Monday May 22, day after  group of people believed to be from  ruling  Coalition for Democratic Change   staged a protest at the Nimba County Senator, Prince Johnson “Christ Chapel of Faith Church” in Monrovia,  Bishop Brown terms the action as irresponsible act  that has a propensity to undermine the Country  fragile peace.

He urged  the political actors  to raise and show a high level of maturity  and responsibility  and desist from misapplying environments  that are not meant for political  events  to avoid  contradictions.

“What happened to  Senator Johnson Church is unfortunate but we should settle  the political  question in political terrain.  We should not draw the  churches and Mosques into political maneuvering.

Settle the   political differences within the political circles  but not to turn Churches or Mosques into  political  stages,” the Former  President of the Liberia  Council of Churches,  Bishop  Korto Brown  asserted.

He however said,  a decent and responsible politic is about debating an ideology but not about throwing stones or attacking each other.
