Women Legislative Caucus Encourages Female Political Participation

Ahead of the October  General  and presidential  elections in Liberia,  the  Female  Legislators with support from the UN Women Lineria held  a daylong  engagement with over 300  Women in district #3 Magibi County under a team Sustaining and Promoting Women’s Political Participation and Leadership”   encouraging  them to fully  participate in the upcoming electoral  process. 

During their  daylong 

Strategic Town-hall engagement  which   was held at the Kakata old Cinema on Wednesday May 3, 2023. The Program Coordinator of Women Legislative Caucus, Madam Marayah Fyneah called on  the participants to take advantage of the pending October 10 presidential and general elections and said, it’s their constitutional right to partake in any democracy process of the Country. 

She said, their participation  in the upcoming Political process will  determine their  future for the next six and nine years.

 According to her, the pending elections aren’t only meant for those who are currently at the House of Legislature and Executive but rather for the entire citizens of Liberia.

Meanwhile,  Madam Marayah Fyneah used the occasion and pledged on behalf of the Women Legislative Caucus    full support to women who are desirous of taking on the mantle of authority at the level of the National Legislature. 

In a special remark,  Magibi current district #3   Representative,   Ellen A Attoh-Wreh applauded  Madam Marayah Fyneah and other    for their unwavering support towards her leadership. 

Rep.  Wreh  noted that women play a meaningful role in the governance process and developmental drive in every Country. 

She however cautioned  them to be supportive of their fellow women during electoral processes, stating that it is only women that understand the  situations they are  faced with.

According to her , due to the lack of sufficient females at the House of Legislature ,their issues placed on the floor for discussion are not always given ears  by their male counterparts. 

Rep.Wreh stressed that there is  a  need for women to prioritize female candidates in the upcoming General and Presidential elections so as to have many females in both houses.
