Ambassador Linda Thomas Greenfield, the United States’ Permanent Representative to the United Nations, extended a diplomatic courtesy visit to His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., President of the Republic of Liberia, amidst the ongoing US-Africa Business summit in Dallas, Texas.
According to a release from the Executive Mansion, Ambassador Greenfield commended President Boakai for his vigorous efforts in combating corruption and impunity within the country during their meeting.
The release elaborated that she acknowledged the President’s recent initiatives in auditing crucial government institutions, such as the Ministry of State, and his enactment of Executive Order #131, which established the Office of War and Economic Crimes Court.
Ambassador Greenfield also voiced her concern regarding the challenges confronting Liberia presently, including the imperative to fortify democratic institutions, enhance the rule of law, and mitigate corruption.
She assured President Boakai of the unwavering support of the United States in areas of mutual interest.
In response, President Boakai expressed gratitude to Ambassador Greenfield for her visit and reiterated his unwavering commitment to combating corruption, fortifying institutions, upholding the rule of law, and building upon the nation’s achievements.
The Liberian Leader concluded by underscoring the significance of his government’s priorities as delineated in his Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation, and Tourism (ARREST) Agenda, which strives to ensure sustainable development.
