The defense team of Cllr. Gloria M. Scott and her family have informed the public that unknown individuals have once again been apprehended on the compound of Cllr. Scott’s residence in Virginia.
These individuals were apprehended with the assistance of community members who promptly alerted the police. They have since been taken into custody at the Zone 6 Base in Virginia.
It has been reported that the intruders were found in possession of various items taken from the main house. Additionally, there have been allegations that they have been repeatedly accessing the compound, stealing items such as flat-screen TVs, rice, oil, and construction materials. Some witnesses have even claimed to have seen them sleeping on the premises.
During the proceedings at the lower court (Criminal Court A), the defense raised concerns about the ongoing intrusion into the compound, while the prosecution argued that a family member named Anthony Musu was responsible for these incidents, purportedly visiting the compound under the pretext of feeding the dogs. However, Judge Roosevelt Z. Willie ruled that no family member should visit the premises and that the Liberia National Police should take charge of the compound.
The defense team is troubled by these developments and views them as confirmation of the intrusion alarms previously raised by Cllr. Scott and her family, despite the police dismissing them as false information.
Recent revelations made by Assistant Commissioner of Police Monroe A. Dennis, who spoke via phone from the United States on a local radio show (Hott FM), have added further intrigue to the situation. ACP Dennis disclosed that the investigation findings did not support the charges outlined in the indictment against Cllr. Scott and her family. He suggested that external pressure had influenced the decision to pursue legal action against them.
In light of these developments, the defense team has promptly filed an appeal before the Honorable Supreme Court of Liberia, seeking justice in the upcoming March 2024 term.
