Traditional Leaders Rise Against  Prophet-Key

The Liberian  traditional leaders,  “Zoes” who are currently  in Vezela Town,  Lofa County to observe  the  International day of Zero Tolerance against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM),  have expressed  serious  disappointment in an exile controversial polical commentator , Nayabouqua Oldpa Yeazeahn commonly know as Prophet Key for his utterance against  the Liberian Culture  Ambassador,  Queen Juli Endee, vowed to handle him traditional. 

In a meeting lasted  for over five hours among them  at the Lofa County  Cultural Heritage Center in Vezela Town,  Voinjama  District, on Monday  February  5, 2024 prior to the  celebration of the  International day of Zero Tolerance against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) slated for February 6.

 The female zoes who  confided in Journalists explained  that  serious  plans were discussed to boycott  the ceremony  in a protest for the  humiliation against  Amb. Queen Juli Endee by Prophet Key. 

They termed   the situation as unfortunate  and politically  motivated  to disrespect  the culture  ,norm and tradition  that have held them together  for centuries. 

According to them, an insult against the Queen is an Sult against  all the Zoes, women and girls across the Country.

Ma Wata Kamara,  the Spokesperson  of Lofa  Traditional council and member of the   female traditional   zoes who spoke briefly to journalists,  expressed serious dissatisfaction  over  Key’s   action  against their Cultural Queen, demanding   apology  and fine from him.

Also, the  Lofa County Traditional  Chair Lady only  identified as Ma, Kumasa  added that  all the zoes in the  House shared tears, ” because if you insult one woman, you insult  all. If he can go ahead to insult  our Queen on Facebook,  it means  he is insulting all the  Liberian  women, even the old people  in the house are crying for his action against  the Women  as whole”.

At the same time, the  head of  the   National Female Muslims  Zoes, Ma.  Majula B. Daramy  who responded in tears noted that the  insult  against  Juli is an insult  against  everyone.

“I am not happy  and we are not happy as Juli has been insulted,  if you insult  Queen Juli, you’re  insulting  the traditional  women of Liberia,  she is our Ambassador,  anything  against  her is against  the traditional  women,” she emphasized. 

According to her,  their action  of leaving the bushes  to come in the cities  in the name of eradicating  FGM is an effort  by   Queen, Juli Endee  who is doing everything  to build  a smooth relationship  between them and the  international  partners. 

Meanwhile,  the Grand Cape Mount  and  Montserrado Counties  head of female zoes,   Ma. Wata Fahnbulleh and Massa Kandakai respectively promised to take the fight  personally  to another level. 

The duo  who failed  to disclose  their exact  reaction,  are calling on the government to do  every  necessary thing  to  hold Prophet Key reliable for his action  against  the  traditional  women or will face the   fury of the transition  that no one has  ever  seen before. 

The International  Day of Zero Tolerance against  Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), was  celebrated in Lofa  County to dedicate the  County Vocational and Heritage Center and  enforce  the FGM ban across  the country. 

The ceremony  will take place on Tuesday  February,  6, 2024 in Vezela Town, Voinjama District, Lofa County  by  the  National Council of Chiefs and Elders of Liberia (NACCEL) in partnership with Liberia Crusaders For Peace (LCP), Ministry of Internal Affairs and  Ministry of Gender, Children & Social Protection with Funding Support from the Government of Sweden in Collaboration with UN Women.
