~Want Immediate Solution To Lone Star’s Embarrassment

It seems that the demands for a better Lone Star and unnecessary provocation as a result of recent performances by Liberia’s national team, have accelerated more protestations by aggrieved fans.

Since Liberia’s embarrassing successive home defeats to Malawi and Equatorial Guinea, there have been wave of protestations by a group of Liberians under the banner ‘Aggrieved Lone Star Fans’ in demand of a new direction.

This wave of non -stop protestations might not have claimed the attention of the local football authority but their repeated action could just send a message that something has to be done with downward trend of football, particularly the national team.

It is no secret that Lone Star has been dingy in continental football encounters boys with the latest FIFA World Ranking placing Liberia in the lowest rank amongst its regional counterparts.

Since the ascendancy of the current LFA Boss, the National Team of Liberia have witnessed nothing but a gloomy prospect as football’s pundits have placed the blame squarely at the feet of Mr. Mustapha I. Raji and group of Executive Committee Members.

One of the groups blaming Raji for Lone Star’s dreary state is the ‘Aggrieved Lone Star Fans.’

According to them, the refusal of football authorities to address the downward state of Liberia’s senior national team, the Lone Star, has prompted a new wave of non-stop protests, while also calling for the immediate dismissal of Coach Keita.

The disenchanted fans again on Monday, November 27, 2023 assembled at the head offices of Orange GSM where the LFA’s President currently serves as Consultant.

The protesters attributed the continuous decline of the Lone Star to the insensitivity of the FA boss to make decisive decisions that would bring immediate turnaround to the national team.

They insisted that Raji’s preference for the Head Coach job was a somber decision clouded with sentiments.

According to them (protesters), those who masterminded Keita’s appointment should also vacate the top seat, since they have not been able to bring back the glorious days of the Lone Star.

Prior to Raji’s ascendancy to the FA, his tough-talking approach won him the admiration of football stakeholders, and subsequently, paved his way for the FA’s Presidency.

To the Contrary, Raji has failed miserably to maintain the previous state of the national team before his ascendancy.

What is even frustrating to the fans is that the local football house has refused to give any reason for such a blur state of the Lone Star, as the angry fans may have also grew frustrated. As a result, the aggrieved fans earlier stormed the post-match news conference at the SKD Sports Complex, minutes after Liberia’s 1-0 home defeat to Malawi.

Their action, which has also been criticized by a few pundits, appeared to be an immediate reaction to what many referred to as Lone Star’s worst home performance in decades.

Football pundits are wondering why the FA is yet to comment in the wake of the ongoing protestations. Some believed that the repeated silence of the FA could just prompt a nationwide protest as Liberia interest is first in all.

Effort to get the side of the local FA did not materialize as President Raji refused to pick his calls.
