Maxson S. Kpakio JFL executive Director

The Executive Director of one of the most consistent advocacy organizations in Liberia, Justice Forum LIBERIA, Ambassador Maxson S. Kpakio says that his organization is hugely disturbed of the latest news circulating in the country of the Finance Minister, Mr. Samuel Tweah releasing $160,000.00 (one hundred and sixty thousand dollars) to Mr. Aloysius Howe as a reward for he Mr. Howe rendering services on Facebook as a Public Relations Officer for the CDC-led government.

Amb. Kpakio in a press release avenged his anger on the Minister of Finance for undermining the fight against corruption despite the help from the international partners of Liberia including the United States government efforts in assisting Liberia to stand against corruption. The Executive Director of JFL, reminded Minister Tweah of the effort that other countries are doing in the quest of minimizing corruption in Liberia. He stressed further that the recent decision taken by the U.S. government by putting sanctions on three top government officials of the CDC-led government is a clear manifestation of how Liberia’s partners are not happy about the reckless and corrupt behavior of some government officials.

Amb. Kpakio is therefore calling on the lawmakers to quickly intervene by inviting Minister Tweah and Mr Howe so that they can give more clarity to the Liberian people since in fact such money could be coming from the national coffers. He further stressed that the nation is heading in the wrong  direction and as such the behavior of a good number of government officials could put the nation at serious security risk especially when the citizens feel that they are being taken for joke.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director of J.F.L. is calling on the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC), the United States government through Ambassador Michael McCarthy, the United Kingdom government through Ambassador, Neil Bradley, to assist Liberia in doubling up in the quest of fighting corruption. Amb. Kpakio is once again commending the government of President Joe Biden for the recent action taken against three government officials of the CDC-led government by putting sanction on them including Mrs. Nathaniel McGill, Bill Twehway, and Syrennius Cephus.

Mr. Aloysius Howe

Ambassador Kpakio in a press release narrated that he will be writing an official communication to the U.S. Ambassador, the United Kingdom Ambassador, the European Union Ambassador, the LACC boss, and the United Nations country representative to register a complaint on behalf of the people of Liberia against the Finance and Development Minister, Samuel Tweh regarding this payment of $160,000.00 (One Hundred and Sixty Thousand United States Dollars) to Mr. Aloysius Howe. He said “it doesn’t make sense when the Speaker of the House is always begging the United States government through the Ambassador for a national budget support and at the same time another government official is involved in a serious act of corruption”. “This doesn’t add up”, he lamented.

The Executive Director of Justice Forum LIBERIA, Amb. Maxson S. Kpakio is therefore calling on all partners of Liberia including the United States government, the United Kingdom government, and the European Union to instead focus their support to civil society organizations.
