NPP Slaps Biney’s Decision

Ahead of the emergency conversation  announced by the National  Patriotic Party  NPP to settle their Internal wrangling, the National Executive Committee   of the Party called on the National  Elections  Commission NEC   not to reconsider the Party  Chairman , Sen. James Biney  Communication  regarding the illegality of the new Coalition Agreement.

Addressing the media  at the Congo Town headquarters during  the week, the Secretary general of the party, Mr. Andrew  Peters  stated that their Chairman  claims  on the the illegality of their Coalition  Agreement  is totally  untrue  as two third of their  Executive  Members  including him and  their  political Leaders  Jewel Howard Taylor  are signatory to the Coalition  agreement. 

“The life span of the 2016 Framework Document having expired, a new Framework Document was drafted, reviewed and agreed upon by more than 2/3 majority of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NPP, mandating the Standard Bearer, Jewel Howard-Taylor, National Chairman, James P. Biney and I Andrew Peters, National Secretary General to sign the 2023 Framework Document on behalf of the NPP for the continuation of the party in the Coalition. 

In kind adherence to the mandate of the NEC of the NPP, | Andrew Peters, National Secretary General of the NPP, the Standard Bearer and the Vice Chairman for Administration, Mr. George §, Mulbah who acts in the absence of the National Chairman signed on behalf of the party, thus committing the party to the Coalition”, NPP Secretary General told the press. 

NPP Secretary General  noted that  their  decision was taken by the party Consistent with its bye-law and Constitution (Article 18 Section 18.1) to ally itself with other parties temporarily under special circumstances for the purpose of achieving a common strategic objective; hence, the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), National Patriotic Party (NPP), and the Liberia People Democratic Party (LPDP) came together in 2016 under a Coalition, contested and won in 2017 General and Presidential Elections. 

He  however  said, In kind adherence to the mandate of the NEC of the NPP,  he Andrew Peters, National Secretary General of the NPP, the Standard Bearer and the Vice Chairman for Administration, Mr. George S. Mulbah  acted in the absence of the National Chairman and signed on behalf of the party, thus committing the party to the Coalition.

“Regarding the recent wave of misunderstanding in the party, the National Executive Committee (NEC) will endeavor to ensure the holding of an emergency NEC meeting to peacefully address the situation in the manner and form that will resolve the contending issues, reunite the party in preparation for voter registration and a vigorous campaign for the Coalition victory in the 2023 General and Presidential Elections”, Mr. Andrew Peters  asserted.

He  further calls on  NPP partisans  to remain calm, law abiding and desist from making public utterances that may have the proclivity to bring their party to public disrepute and undermine the progress of their Coalition.
