The  Liberia  Neurologist  Dr. Lawrence  A. Sumo  launched  the Center for Epilepsy (Fainting) & Neurologic Disease   CENDLIB   to provide  care for   over 2000 Liberians that are  currently  suffering  from Epilepsy.

Speaking at  their  aspiration program held over the weekend  in Monrovia, he said,   their goal is to provide  care  with training  in Neuroscience  to young  people  of Liberia  to safe the future  of those affected  by Epilepsy.

According  to him,   Liberia   is part of the Epilepsy  belts  globally  with  about 2000 Librarians suffering  from it   but have succeeded in providing  treatment  for  over  800  patients.

He warned the society  to stop stigmatizing those suffering  from such disease  and  support  their efforts  to have them treated  that will provide  them the  opportunity  to  resume their  normal  activities.

Accordingly,  he and his Family  have spent  over UD$480,000 so far in services and   the construction of their  CENDLIB facility  to preserve  the life of those affected in the Country  by Epilepsy.

” I am the only Neurologist Doctor  Liberia has for now, Ghana has two, Nigeria  about three. We  want to  Inspire  our  Young people by telling them our  own stories   to see where we  came from and   where we are  today and give  them hope that they too can do the same or even more”, the Liberia only Neurologist  Dr. Zumo told a group of Liberians .

He said, as a certified Liberian  Neurologist based in the USA, their  Job is to treat   the  citizens  across the Country  so they can go back to school  and  to their  Job places.

He’s  however  calling  on everyone, especially  the health sector, to embrace   their efforts and  get involved to help more Liberians.

“We want  to improve the  status and  education  of  our Brothers and Sisters with Epilepsy. They  are   very important in society.

Epilepsy is a chronic  disease and  people  should   stop stigmatizing  those affected .

The stigma of epilepsy is too sad, dangerous and terrible for our people”, Dr. Zumo acknowledged.

In a special remark during  their inspiration program over the weekend  in Monrovia,  the Liberia Presidential Hopeful Cllr. Tiawon Gongloe  admonishes  everyone   to support  verse investment   in the scientific  sectors in order to build  a safe  environment.

He calls on the stakeholders  to provide  more scholarships  for science students to   empower  them to create  a healthier  society.
