To Deal Junta Leaders through  Constructive Discussions

The political leader of the Liberia First Movement (LFM), Sheikh Al-moustapha Kouyateh recently joint several world leaders  to condemn the coup occurrences,  but urges the leadership of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to prioritize dialogue and diplomacy to restore  peace,  stability and democracy in the region.

“It is indeed regrettable that some citizens of Niger have rallied in support of the military leaders. However, we must recognize that the decisions made by ECOWAS, such as keeping the people of Niger in darkness and closing borders with Nigeria and Benin, only worsen the hardships already faced by the citizens. These decisions go against the principles of humanity and the spirit of regional cooperation that ECOWAS should exemplify” Sheikh emphasized.

The Liberia First movement  leader calls upon ECOWAS to avoid resorting to force and sanctions, instead emphasizing the importance of engaging in dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the crisis.

According to him, through constructive discussions with the junta leaders, they can work towards a peaceful resolution that respects the will and rights of the people of Niger.

Furthermore, he  calls upon ECOWAS to lift sanctions against Burkina Faso, Guinea, and Mali. Said  It is essential to integrate these countries into the regional framework and encourage their leaders to organize democratic elections

Kouyateh  explained that by embracing every country and leader within ECOWAS, they can foster unity and inclusivity, which will contribute to the overall stability and progress of the region.

Reiterating the vision of ECOWAS,  he said,  “One ECOWAS, One Voice, and One Currency. It is crucial for ECOWAS to embrace every country and leader, working towards a unified voice and currency. This unity will not only strengthen the region’s position on the global stage but also enable us to effectively address shared challenges and advance the well-being of our citizens.”

Additionally, he recognized the urgent need for leaders of ECOWAS to invest in key sectors such as security, agriculture, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development.

Sheik maintains that  these  sectors are fundamental to improving the lives of  citizens and fostering sustainable development in the region to  create opportunities, enhance social well-being, and contribute to the overall progress of West Africa.

LFM presidential candidate  concluded that the coup d’état in Niger demands their  immediate attention and a commitment to peaceful resolution.
