LDEA Investigates  28 Years-old Man’s Death

The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA)   has launched an investigation into the death of a 28-year-old man identified as Christopher Yeayou commonly known as Melvin.

On Friday June 28, the Lifeless body Christopher Yeayou was discovered in the pond of water in the New- Georgia Community an hour after officers assigned at the Gardnersville Town Hall Detail, reportedly carried out a raiding exercise around the New Georgia Junction.

Addressing  Newsman over the weekend at the Headquarters of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency in Monrovia, the Officer in charge (OIC) of the LDEA, Mr.  Christopher Peters described the incident as unfortunate and expressed the Agency’s deepest concern from the administration.

According to  Peters, the Administration of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency has launched an immediate investigation into the situation that led to the death of the 28-year-old man adding that anyone culpable will be dealt with by the Law.

OIC Peters maintained that  the LDEA expresses concerns over a raiding situation which occurred along the New Georgia Junction community Friday evening June 28 2024 at 1600hrs.

“On June 28, 2024, at approximately 1600hrs, the LDEA received a report which indicates that some of its officers assigned at the Gardnersville Town Hall Detail, reportedly carried out a raiding exercise around the New Georgia Junction community. Unfortunately, it was reported that a 28 years old man identified as Christopher Yeayou (also known as “Melvin”) lifeless body was later discovered and pulled out of a pond of water when the exercise turned raucous as those within the parameters fled for fear of being arrested.

“The incident was responded to by officers of the Liberia National Police who calmed the situation and later took the body of Christopher Yeayou to the JFK Medical Center where he was pronounced dead upon arrival,” ” Col. Peters disclosed.

He added that the administration of the LDEA expresses sympathy to the bereaved families for the loss of their son and assures the general public of immediate investigation into the situation.
