Tension rises over a Land dispute in Grand Kru County between Sasstown and Pinicess resulting in the reported destruction of crops and burning down of five village Houses Subobo.
According to the report, the People of Pinicess claiming that people from Sastown have occupied their land over the years engaging in farming activities , and are therefore using violence to evacuate them from their land.
Speaking to the Land Administrator of the County, Mr. David Togba, via telephone, confirms that there is a serious claim and counterclaim on the ongoing Land dispute between Sastown and Pinicess in Grand Kru County but the County Authority is doing all it can to restore calmness.
According to him, the conflict between the two communities in Grand Kru County has resulted in the burning of five houses on the questioned land and is stopping students from Pinicess Subobo to attend schools over the period.
He said, the students in pinicess Subobo have to leave their area and cross two rivers just to enter and stay at Sasstown for school days after which they sometimes visit their parents back to Subobo, pinicess for weekend.
” No casualties for now as the attackers never met the residents of the village they put ablaze during the time”, Grand Kru County Land Administrator Mr. David Togba claimed.
Meanwhile, it’s reported that the People of Sasstown, Joquigbor has now challenged the Grand Kru local authority to look into the matter within two days or will take action that will help them take what according to them belong to them
Meanwhile, David is calling on the Central government to provide more logistics to the County Land Authority department to enable them to reach out easily in terms of such situations.
According to him, he has no full control over the situation because the access to transportation is hardly challenged by his office in the County.
He said, he runs his office at the expense of the Internal Affairs Ministry or his own salary in the County and when the Ministry is not available to respond with him or no money in his pocket, his job becomes difficult.
