Tension  rises over a Land dispute in Grand Kru County between  Sasstown and Pinicess resulting  in the reported destruction of crops and burning down of  five village Houses  Subobo.

According  to the report,  the People  of Pinicess  claiming  that people  from Sastown  have occupied their  land over the years engaging  in farming  activities , and are therefore using  violence  to evacuate  them from their land.

Speaking  to the Land Administrator of the County, Mr. David  Togba, via telephone,  confirms  that there is a serious  claim and counterclaim  on the ongoing  Land dispute between  Sastown  and Pinicess  in Grand Kru County  but the County  Authority is doing  all it can to restore  calmness.

According  to him,  the conflict between the two communities in Grand Kru County has resulted in the burning of five houses on the questioned land and is stopping  students from Pinicess Subobo to attend schools over the period.

He said, the  students in pinicess Subobo have to leave their area and cross two rivers just to enter and stay at Sasstown for school days after which they sometimes visit their parents back to Subobo, pinicess for weekend.

” No casualties for now as the attackers  never  met the residents of the village  they put ablaze during  the time”,  Grand Kru  County  Land  Administrator  Mr. David Togba claimed.

Meanwhile,  it’s  reported that  the People of Sasstown, Joquigbor has now challenged the Grand Kru local authority to look into the matter  within two days or  will take action that will help them take what according to them  belong to them

Meanwhile,  David  is calling  on the Central government  to provide  more logistics  to the County  Land Authority department  to enable them to reach out easily  in terms of such  situations.

According  to him, he has no full control over the situation  because  the access  to transportation  is hardly  challenged by his office in the County.

He said,  he runs his office  at the expense of the Internal Affairs Ministry or his own salary  in the County  and when the Ministry is not available to respond  with him or no money in his pocket, his job becomes  difficult.
