Afric Daily Newspaper–Monrovia: The Liberia Maritime Commission, Lenn Eugene Nagbe, is calling on the new leadership of the Reporter Association of Liberia RAL to make a bigger noise to demand the welfare of Reporters from the media owners and said the Journalists are the least paid professionals in Liberia according to their survey conducted over the period.
Speaking at the RAL induction ceremony on Friday January 6, 2023 at the Millennium Hotel in Monrovia, Mr. Nagbe said while the reporters are the biggest auxiliary in the press Union of Liberia their welfare has being downplayed by their employers or media owners.
According him, the issues of low salary or no salary for Reporters has being an old age issue in the media landscape of Liberia since the formation of the press Union of Liberia.
Nagbe challenged the newly Leadership of RAL to respectfully collaborate with the PUL Leadership to ought the media owners to change the narrative of Reporters welfare and give them a better hope in their Journalism profession that will allow them increase their functions.
” I became a PUL full member in 1986 and since then, it’s the same story. This leadership has a responsibility to make a positive change as the public depends on the fourth estate to hold public officials accountable for their plans and actions”, Mr. Nagbe stated.
