The Director General of the State-owned media House, the Liberia Broadcasting Service (LBS), Mr. Eugene Lamin Fahngon mad-handle top security personnel assigned at the National Port Authority (NPA) who was carrying out his professional duty.
Fahngon, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, physically assaulted Charles Roberts, delivering several slaps to his ears.
Afric Daily Newspaper has gathered that on Monday, July 1, 2024, Fahngon abruptly entered the port to stream live the facility for governmental propaganda purposes but was unaware to the port security network.
Due to the high-security alert at the Port, the Deputy Corporate Security Coordinator (CSC)/ Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) who is responsible for Intelligence and Investigation, Mr. Charles Roberts, approached Fahngon to inform him about the established port security protocols.
Accordingly, while Charles was telling Fahngon to seek the appropriate means before commencing his live podcast, Fahngon became annoyed, attacked Charles, and gave him several ear slaps.
Fahngon allegedly claimed that Charles and the port security had no audacity to question his presence at the port as far as he remains the LBS Director and prominent member in President Joseph Boakai’s regime.
Fahngon action clearly shows that the Gateway to Liberia Economic, the Free Port of Monrovia security system is no longer safe, as any top government official could easily breach security protocols, commit any act, and go unpunished.
Despite repeated attempts, the Afric Daily Newspaper has been unable to obtain a comment from Mr. Fahngon regarding the incident as an investigation into this matter continues
