Many Citizens in District #2 Montserrado County are saddened and disappointed , calling on the international community, national stakeholders to urge the National Elections Commission (NEC) to take the responsibility of what they characterized as electoral Irregularities and declare the rightful representative elect of the district.
They have challenged the NEC to prove them wrong by recounting votes cast on October 10, at several polling places where they are claiming alteration on the tally sheets report that is preventing Candidate Bishop Nimley J. Donyen from winning the election.
” Candidate Bishop Nimley J Donyen won the elections according to the tally sheets record in our possession, he was leading throughout , time for NEC to announce him as a winner, they played with the result and announced Sekou Kanneh.
“The people altered the original tally sheets we have here in our possession, what we have is quite different from what they announce. Donyen is who we voted for, not Sekou Kanneh,” Superintendent, Madam Kebeh Harris of Nimba United Community Market.
explained.
Speaking to one of the Community Elders, Mr. Nyema Harris, in Kpanwin Community within the district, asserted, there is no way Donyen can lose the election to Sekou, saying that as far as he is concerned, Doyen is the formidable candidate who is the face of the district.
According to him, the district tally sheets in their possession clearly manifest that he wins the elections.
Elder Harris added that their only request which he said is in line with the law is to call for recount at the various polling places where the actual tally sheet figures were replaced by numbers manufactured by an unknown individual to bury Bishop Nimley Donyen votes.
Mr. Cyrus Toh, the Youth leader of Johnsonville Township in the district, acknowledges that the district is sad and quiet over the delay to announce Bishop Donyen as a winner.
“Sekou Kanneh is just taking the glory to himself but the result of the 19 Precincts we have in the district shows Candidate Nimely J. Donyen wins the election.
“From all the information I got around here and what I saw, Bishop Donyen wins the election. In fact I have been receiving calls from all over in the district asking about the causes of the overturning of the result.
“The district has been so sad and quiet, you know if anybody works towards something they deserve and sees something contrary, it brings sorrow,” Youth Chairman Toh explained.
He added that the action is showing foul play and disrespect to the decision made by the masses in the district.
Also in an exclusive interview with the Chairperson of Team Doyen, Mr. Ramcy Larway over the weekend, he vows that under no circumstances Sekou can win his candidate Bishop Donyen, challenged for recount to prove him wrong.
“We have our tally sheets and we know we won the election. With God above all things are possible….We were in the lead until the last results were announced that Sekou Kanneh won the election! It’s not possible because we’ve all of our tally sheets. We wrote a letter to NEC requesting for a recount and it was granted. We are now taking legal action and we know that bit by bit, we’ll get a good result. Bishop DONYAN the people’s choice,” the assured.
