The Democratic People’s Party of Liberia DPPL have unanimously agreed and forthwith endorsed AMB. JOSEPH N. BOAKAI AND SEN. JEREMIAH KPAN KOUNG Presidential Ticket of the Unity Party Alliance for the October 10, 2023 elections dubbed the “RESCUE MISSION”.
According to the official statement signed by the Party National Chairman, Atty.N. Dickson R. Tamba, the decision was reached by the National Executive Committee – NEC and Legislative Candidates of the Party which we are convinced is the best and in the interest of the people and nation of Liberia in such a crucial time based on the following reasons:
“1. JNB has the experience and understanding of the Liberian situation
2. He has the political will to fight corruption which has kept the oldest African Republic underdeveloped and drugs addiction that is destroying the youthful generation , the future of Liberia
“3. The ARREST platform aligns with ours and it offers the way forward for the growth and development of our beloved country and people.
“4. He stands tall among all of us vying for the job at this current moment,” the statement explains.
Meanwhile, it emphasized that they have observed during the period of the campaign that the overwhelming majority of the Liberian electorates are in support of the Rescue Mission and their support will lead to a win on the first ballot as required by law.
“Our Party is not just named Democratic Peoples’ Party but we truly believe in and subscribe to democratic values and tenets.
“We like to emphasize that our decision is not just democratically and politically prudent but also economically feasible to save the country and friends of Liberia from waste of resources, time and energy for a runoff election.
“Our decision is new but patriotic and can only be done by patriots and democrats such as us who put the country over and above themselves.
“We want to thank our party leadership at the national, regional, county, district, chiefdom, clan, section, township, community, zone, block and diaspora levels and the general membership and well wishers for believing in us and we wish you and all Liberians well and also call on you to vote for JNB and JKK (the Rescue Mission) on Tuesday October 10, 2023 in a peaceful manner,” according to their official party statement.
However, they are calling on the National Elections Commission – NEC to ensure that the true mandate of the Liberia electorates will be expressed in their votes.
